Why Blog, Why?

Why Blog, Why?

September 15th, 2008 | Tags: rants and rambles, blogging

I know what you are thinking - "Just what the world needs - another blog." Well, I couldn't agree more, but I have my reasons. It's not just vanity. Really!

So why did I choose to start my own personal blog? It's so much work to try to be interesting to the masses of people that I'm sure will just be clammering to read my every keystroke. Well, that brings me to my first reason...

  1. 1. Writing Has Become a Lost Art

It has been over 3 years since I've been in college, and I’ve had to write maybe 5 coherent paragraphs of text in that time. That's sad... weepy tears sad. Weepy tears for my dying brain cells sad. There's probably a 2 pound chunk of my brain that's only purpose has been to keep the working parts of my brain from bouncing around my cranium. I think all parts of my body should have a higher purpose than the fender of a bumper car.

  2. 2. I'm a Web Developer!

Yeah, I'm a web developer and it's almost expected in this profession. I know that makes me not much more than those lemmings that the Walt Disney company made jump off that cliff, but hey, it's one of the dangers of job. A blog can help you more relatable to your clients and distinguish you as an expert in your field. Search engines also love them. Blogs give Google the warm fuzzies and that translates to high search results. That's fee advice people! Come back for more shiny, shiny pearls of wisdom.

By the way, do you need someone to setup a blog for you? I know someone good! ABC. Always be closing...

  3. 3. Knowledge Is Power

... which means my brain must be a nuclear power generator. I mean, I know stuff. Though I'm only 27, I've been working full-time in the web development industry since I was 19, and I had dabbled for a few years before that. I have worked for a university (California University of Pennsylvania - Go Vulcans!), an ad agency (GKV advertising in Baltimore, MD), a web development firm (Willetts Systems in Cumberland, MD), and now for myself as Verner Web Studio based out of Washington, PA.

Experience is a really close friend of Knowledge. So close in fact, that if you invite Experience to a summer barbeque then you know he is bringing Knowledge with him. You better have a burger or two to cook him. But I digress... all I really wanted to say was I'm experienced and I know a lot about web development. Got a web development question?

So there it is. My entry into the personal blog world is complete. There's no turning back now. Next time I won't shill my services so much - it even annoyed me.
